Cheers to Galentine’s Day
BY DAENNA VAN MULLIGEN
There’s no better way to celebrate our closest friends, confidantes and besties than by embracing Galentine’s Day!
This unofficial holiday first appeared on an episode of the hit TV series Parks and Recreation in 2010. At a breakfast party attended by the female characters, one of them hands out bags of handmade gifts and explains that the tradition called Galentine’s Day is ladies celebrating ladies. The episode sparked a phenomenon: empowering women to carve out time to rejoice in one another at least once a year on a dedicated
calendar square. Now known as Galentine’s Day, it falls on February 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. However you and your comrades decide to celebrate, just remember great friendships deserve recognition. On the following pages, we’ve assembled a list of Galentine’s Day gathering suggestions, and of course wines to pair with each.
