DARK CHOCOLATE & STOUT CASK‑FINISHED WHISKEY

JAMESON CASKMATES STOUT EDITION IRISH WHISKEY Ireland $39.99 450072

Coffee and dark chocolate are a classic pairing. They share similar properties, and their robust, roasted, bitter notes are enhanced when enjoyed together. Similarly, Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition works wonderfully with dark chocolate. This classic triple-distilled blended Irish whiskey, known for its orchard fruit and sweet vanilla character, is finished in casks seasoned with craft stout beer, creating a milk chocolate note. Pairing it with a moderate dark chocolate (70 percent cacao) makes an exceptional bittersweet combination.

NUTTY CHOCOLATE & EX‑COGNAC CASK SCOTCH WHISKY

As one of the most revered single malt Scotch distilleries, The Glenlivet has built its reputation on a house style rich with tropical fruit, citrus and honey-drenched biscuits. Differentiating many of its core expressions (besides more time in barrels) is the use of different casks to finish and impart some subtleties. For example, The Glenlivet 14-Year-Old is finished for a minimum of six months in ex-cognac casks, which impart floral and nutty notes with a touch of spice. Pairing this Scotch with an almond- or hazelnut-filled chocolate accentuates the nutty notes.
