For a few years now, nostalgia has significantly influenced cocktail trends, fostering a renewed appreciation for timeless classics. These iconic drinks are enjoying a resurgence, cherished for their enduring appeal and ability to evoke fond memories, capturing the essence of a bygone era.
Historically, classic cocktails were categorized into as many as 36 families, based on their ingredient formulas and serving styles. These classifications were often too complex, primarily appealing to professional bartenders and enthusiasts. However, in 2018, the founders of Death & Co in New York simplified this system by reclassifying these cocktails into just six categories or “templates,” asserting that every cocktail can be linked to one of these fundamental structures:
