The Red Advantage There are good reasons why Black Sage produces only exceptional red wines. The vineyards are on the east side of the valley and slope slightly to the west, which provides extended sun exposure, and the rock outcrops and loamy, sandy soil retain heat that red varieties like Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah need to ripen. These optimal growing conditions naturally produce the full spectrum of flavour characteristics you can taste in Black Sage wines.
