Kailee Frasch WINEMAKER, QUAILS’ GATE.

“Our blush-pink rosé offers white peach, wild strawberry, apricot and sour candy notes and pairs wonderfully with a seafood salad or light dishes like a Provençal vegetable tart.” Fourth-generation French Provençal winemaker Madeleine Premmereur was born with a passion for making wine. “My journey was influenced by my love for the land and desire to share the wines I produce. It’s a field that combines nature, tradition and creativity.” “Château Barbebelle Rosé Fleuri is crafted primarily from Grenache and Cinsault, which bring finesse and fruitiness. Sometimes there’s a touch of Syrah for aromatic complexity. Provence rosé is often associated with the Mediterranean art of living and the joys of sharing,” Premmereur shares. “Personally, I love enjoying it with sushi or a fresh cheese platter, as it balances delicate and tangy flavours beautifully, adding a refreshing touch.”

“Our Chardonnay is a medium-bodied, balanced white with fresh aromas of lemon, pear and apricot. Stone fruit carries through on the palate and is framed by a subtle hint of oak.” Okanagan-born and raised, Kailee Frasch found her way back to the valley after studying cool climate oenology and viticulture at Brock University in Ontario. An internship with Quails’ Gate led to her role as winemaker. She says, “I continue to build on my experiences and focus on creating consistent and high- quality wines that reflect the unique Okanagan Valley terroir.” “The Quails’ Gate Chardonnay is a beautiful representation,” asserts Frasch. “It’s fermented mainly in stainless steel to retain vibrant acidity but also has a small barrel-fermented component to add complexity.” For a wonderful flavour combination, she likes to serve it chilled with a simple pasta dish of lemon and asparagus with a sprinkle of Parmesan.
